Oil Movement
Petroleum storage facilities of Refinery are at two locations i.e. one at Keamari Storage Terminal and other at Korangi Tank farm area. Both locations are interlinked through Intra-City Crude, Black Oil and White oil Product pipelines of approximately 16 kilometers. The facilities have tanks for crude and finished products storage. All the product and feedstock tanks, other than fuel oil and diesel storage, are Internal floating screen with fixed and floating roof type. The crude and products tanks have different storage yards with secondary containments.
Crude storage and handling consists of local and imported crudes. PRL has feed stock bulk storage capacity of about 180,000 M. tons. Imported crudes are received at Karachi Harbor on designated oil piers and then pumped to Keamari terminal from where it is transferred to Korangi via 12˝Φ intra-city line. Local crude receives at Korangi via Tank lorries and decanted to designated local crude tanks.
PRL has main product storage facility at Korangi tank farm area, about 65,000 M. tons product storage capacity is available at this location. The product storage tanks for naphtha export are available at Keamari having capacity of 16,000 M. tons.
Finished products are transported from Refinery to Keamari Terminal via 10˝Φ and 8˝Φ intra-city lines. Pigging system is employed to handle different product in same white oil pipelines. Jet fuel (Jet-A1) is transported to Karachi Airport Storage facility which is operated by Eastern Joint Hydrant Depot (EJHD) via separate Intra-City Pipeline. PRL also provides an important link of imported HSD from oil piers (Keamari) to PARCO Cross-Country pipeline.

Fuel oil gantry is available at Korangi to dispatch fuel oil to marketing companies directly from Refinery. Diesel & Jet-A1 gantry are also under construction and will be commissioned in coming months.
